About Matt Rush

Matt’s roots in New Mexico are deep. His family has been farming and ranching here since the early 1900’s. Matt is the 8th generation in his family to be a farmer and cattle rancher. He grew up and currently resides in Roosevelt County, New Mexico, as did his parents, both grandparents and great-grandparents.
He and his dad partner on a cow/calf operation where they average 150 crossbred cows per year. They also farm 960 acres of wheat and hay. To support his farming habit, he spends the winter months traveling the country speaking to groups on leadership skills as well as preaching the importance of American agriculture.

He was recently appointed to the New Mexico Plan for Bio Fuels Development Committee, has been an invited guest of the White House and has been honored on the floor of the New Mexico House of Representatives. In 2003 he was selected as the Students in Free Enterprise Alumnus of the Year and in 2005 was chosen as one of four “John J. McCloy” fellows to represent U.S. Agriculture on a three week exchange program with Germany.

He currently serves on the American Farm Bureau's Foundation for Agriculture Board of Directors, the Berean Children's Home Board of Directors, the President of the Roosevelt County Farm Bureau, a member of the New Mexico Cattle Growers, and is an active member of the Dora church of Christ.

Matt is the type of future leader this state needs.  He is the perfect fit for this office.  He understands agriculture firsthand.  He understands the fiscal importance of the oil and gas industry on our state.  And most importantly, he understands how to be a steward of the land.  I’m proud to endorse his campaign.
